If you got this error from Connectio, read the article below:

This error occurs because the ads you're attempting to select from Facebook don't match with the ad sets you're creating from ConnectExplore when it comes to their dynamic creative setting:

If your ads are dynamic creative, ad sets must also be dynamic creative. If your ads are non-dynamic creative, ad sets must also be non-dynamic creative.

Note: Ad created under a campaign with the Traffic objective are the only ads that are dynamic creative. All other ads are non-dynamic creative.

To resolve the "Cannot Create Non-dynamic Creative Ads in Dynamic Creative Ad Sets" issue, you can either (1) create non-dynamic creative ad sets from ConnectExplore or (2) create dynamic creative ads from Facebook Business Manager.

Option 1: Create non-dynamic creative ad sets from ConnectExplore

1. Using the Test Interests feature, select your ad account, campaign, and budget as usual.

2. For Campaign Objectives, make sure you choose any objective that fits your campaign (as long as it's not Traffic).

3. Select how many ad sets you want to create.

4. Name the ad sets and select your location and age targeting.

5. Important: make sure not to check the box that says "Create dynamic creative adset:"

6. Continue and choose an ad. The error should no longer appear.

Option 2: Create dynamic ads from Facebook Business Manager
You can create dynamic creative ads in Ads Manager in case you want to use an existing campaign with a Traffic objective.

Create a dynamic creative ad

To create an ad:
  1. Go to Ads Manager.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Choose the Traffic objective, which is the only objective supported by dynamic creative ads with guided creation.
  4. Enter your Campaign Budget and then select Continue to move to the Ad Set level.
  5. Go to Dynamic Creative and click the switch next to OFF. Select Continue. Check that dynamic creative is now ON.
  6. Set your audienceplacements and budget as usual.
  7. Click Continue to move to the Ad level.
  8. In the format section choose Single Image or Video, this format also supports slideshows. Dynamic Creative ads with guided creation don't support the carousel format.
  9. Upload your image, video or slideshow assets. For Single Image, select Browse Library, Free Stock Images or + Upload Images and add up to 10 images. For Single Video, select +, Upload Video or Browse Library to add up to 10 videos. For Slideshow, click Browse Library to add an existing slideshow or Create Slideshow to create a new one. Cropping tools are available.
  10. Click + Add to add up to five text assets and up to five headlines.
  11. Enter your Website URL. To add a News Feed Link Description, click Advanced Options. To add up to four additional link descriptions, click + Add.
  12. Choose up to five call-to-action buttons from the dropdown menu under Call To Action.
  13. Click View More Variations if you want to preview variations of your ad.
  14. Click Confirm to run your ad when you're ready.
